The Navarrese Pyrenees are easy to reach:
Pamplona, the principal centre of communications in the area, is the main starting point. From Pamplona/Iruñea, the areas embraced by the Consortium can be accessed:
  • from the south, on the N-240 arriving in Roncal via Yesa. If you leave the road at the so-called Venta de Judas (Judas’ Inn) –near Lumbier-, then you can reach another West Pyrenean valley: the Valley of Salazar, via Romanzado and Almiradío de Navascués.
  • on the N-150 Pamplona-Urroz road. Join the NA-172 in Aoiz to access the Valley of Arce. The Valley of Arce is an access point to the Valley of Aezkoa.
The same road leads to two areas within the Consortium which, while not so well known, are still of great interest: The Valley of Urraúl Alto, to the north of the River Irati, and the Valley of Urraúl Bajo, to the south.
  • on the NA-135 Pamplona-St Jean-Pied-de-Port road. Also known as the Camino de Ultrapuertos (The Road of the Ultrapasses). After crossing the Valleys of Esteribar and Erro, this road continues on to Auritz-Burguete, Orreaga-Roncesvalles and Luzaide-Valcarlos. A crossroads near Aurizberri-Espinal takes you to Aezkoa.
